Alexandra (Lexi) Hickey, MHC
Staff Clinician
Alexandra (Lexi), is a compassionate and thoughtful clinician working with adults, young adults, children, and families in Therapy In The City's Manhattan office. Her clinical care is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Lexi treats an array of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, mood and anxiety related disorders, behavioral and emotion regulation concerns, as well as neurodivergence.

Lexi prioritizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative therapeutic environment grounded in evidence based care. She emphasizes a strong therapeutic alliance as well as a client-centered approach, where treatment is tailored to each individual’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. Lexi works with her clients to develop practical coping skills and strategies that empower them to create a life worth living, and foster overall emotional well-being.

Lexi obtained her master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness from New York University. Prior, Lexi completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Child Abuse and Neglect from The Ohio State University. Before her career in private practice, she worked in inpatient care for neurodivergent adolescents, partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient, and crisis stabilization settings.
Additionally, Lexi served within the criminal justice system as a Child Victim Specialist, providing support to children and adolescents who were victims of crime, as well as adults who experienced abuse during childhood. These experiences have given her a deep understanding of trauma and the many ways it can manifest across one’s lifespan. Lexi integrates trauma-informed and strength-based approaches to help clients feel safe, strengthen resilience, and support meaningful growth and healing.
Lexi values authenticity, collaboration, and holistic healing, and recognizes her clients are the experts of their own lives. Known for her warmth, empathy, and genuine care, Lexi is dedicated to helping clients cultivate hope, resilience, and a powerful sense of self, not in spite of their histories, but alongside it.
