Aliza Shapiro, LCSW

Aliza Shapiro, LCSW, is a licensed therapist in New York City, and Founder of Therapy In The City, LCSW PLLC. In her clinical work, Aliza helps adults, young adults, and adolescents overcome an array of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, OCD, and related disorders.

Prior to starting her practice, Aliza completed her degree at the Silberman School of Social Work where she studied Health & Mental Health with a focus on neurobiology and the treatment of psychological disorders. As Aliza continued her clinical training, she studied Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy under the direct guidance of Harvard professor, Dr. David Rosmarin, and psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Swenson, respectively.
In addition to her clinical work, Aliza serves as a consultant and board member of Teen Health 101, and leads seminars on mindfulness, emotion regulation and self-esteem. Aliza attended The Wharton School of Business, studying Leadership and Management. Prior to opening her practice, she served as the VP of People & Culture at the Center for Anxiety.
Aliza is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, and utilizes social media to break stigmas, provide content, and create community around mental health related topics. Aliza has been featured in magazines Glamour, New Beauty, and Giddy; and has spoken on various health and mental health podcasts.
