Alejandra Velilla De Vivero, BA, MSEd
Clinical Fellow

Alejandra is a mental health clinical fellow specializing in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders, working with adults, young adults, and teens. Born and raised in Colombia, Alejandra brings a diverse cultural perspective to her work.

Alejandra practices using both Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) treatment modalities. At the core of her counseling philosophy lies empathy and compassion, and she provides personalized guidance, using skills, insight, and unwavering support. Specializing in addressing prevalent issues such as anxiety, grief, sadness, stress, life changes, and other mental health challenges, Alejandra works  to cultivate a safe environment where individuals can embark on immersive journeys of healing,  self-discovery, and personal growth.

With a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a prior master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Alejandra has always been drawn to the profound impact of supporting others. Her experience in mental health advocacy began in Barranquilla, where she dedicated four impactful years as a school counselor. After seeing the impact of supporting the needs of her students in this capacity, Alejandra began to provide in-person and virtual mental health counseling to adolescents, young adults, and adults across the world.

Driven by a passion to extend her reach and empower individuals on a broader scale, Alejandra moved to New York City to complete her second master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness, at New York University. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Alejandra possesses a remarkable ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, foster understanding and trust across cultural and linguistic boundaries, and  facilitate positive change in the lives of her clients- inside and outside of the therapy room alike.
